I believe this motor is between a 69-72? its a 25hp outboard(Model # is 25r69d). I need to know the ratio of 2 cycle oil and gas. When taking the fuel line out of the motor is there some release? or did the fuel line expand over time? Also if anyone knows of a manual availible please let me know.
I posted almost the same message Yesturday May the 28, 2002 12:56 PM. I havent recieved a answer if anyone knows please let me know!

Thanx so much.
-adam

Re: Johnson motor question please help!

This may open a can of worms as it has in the past but I have had good luck using TODAYS oil (Pennzoil Blend or any engine manufacturers oil) even on motors older than yours at 50:1.

I'm not sure I know exactly what you mean when you say you are trying to take the fuel line out of the motor. Sorry.

Good luck!

can't confirm the age of your engine, but if it is '69-'72 50:1 should be fine. Any more will just foul the plugs (well, a little more is OK -- Make sure there is enough oil.) Any TCW-3 oil is good, but we all have preferences and strong arguments as Dhadley implies. Keep the gas and oil fresh.

You may mean that the female clip at the motor end of the fuel line is hard to get off. It sometimes is, particularly if the motor has been sitting around (sticky gum and varnish there gives a good clue of what can form in your carburetor). Try some WD-40 if the clip is what you are talking about, and wiggle it around a little while pinching the clip. It should come off.

I agree your motor should work on 50:1 mix.
But never alter the mix on older motors.
Modern oil ratios are due more to modern engine
design than oil technology. Dont skimp on oil!
