Re: Johnson MQ-12A value
I was watching a nearly perfect 1965 Johnson 9? from North Carolina go up on e-Bay in 2008. In just checking again the old description that I saved from the old auction, I discovered that I never went back to see what it went for. Darn! I would say that it depends on where you sell it, but I would think that $400 would be a great return on that old motor. If it was absolutely brand new you still might have trouble getting $600 - $700. Does the motor still have the original metal gas tank? If everything is included and looks just like new you would be extremely lucky to get $700 for it. Personally I love those motors but due to some unique parts that are unavailable, they really aren?t the hot ticket for collectors. Some don?t like the looks of those ?turtleback? 9? motors but they had a lot of great features, were compact and easy to carry. Not so easy to work on due to the enclosed design and nearly impossible to put remote controls onto.
I am by no means an expert so the above is only my humble opinion.
Say, can you post any pictures of the motor to give us a better idea?
BTW, welcome to i-boats!
