Overheat is usally caused by a bad waterpump, defective thermostats or both. When was the last time the waterpump was rebuilt? If it has been some years, you might like to do it. In addition, you might remove the thermostats and suspend them in a pot of water on the stove. They should open at 140 degrees F or so.
