Johnson/OMC Power tilt Popping

1999 70hp johnson outboard. The tilt operates fine, but while it is moving it makes a loud cracking or popping noise. It is coming from either the motor or the hydraulic piston. I have no idea how these work. Any one know what could be causing this.... dirty fluid.... dirty filter...... air in the system?

Check the thrust rollers where trim rods touch swivel bracket, if locked up they will cause this noise....
