Hi again,
I am getting nervous as I am burning oil at a rate of about 25 to 1. It is getting expensive and also am wondering what could be wrong?

I have a 250 hp 2000 two stroke johnson.

I am wondering what most perople burn for oil and if anyone is using oil as much as i am. And of course what could be causing the oil consumption?

It sounds like your oiler is out of whack. Myself, I haven't had much faith in them. Luckily, it isn't starving your motor of oil, instead of running rich, or you would have a bit more to be concerned about. You could mix your own gas, rather than having the automatic oiler do it, so it'll give you less concerns.

Motors with the PMS injection pump will use extra oil, if they have an air leak on the gasoline line. Check all filters, seperators and the main strainer and make sure all connections are air tight. Ditto for all connections and joints in the fuel line.

I'm running a 97 200HP Evinrude. No idea exactly how much. Have a 3 gallon oil tank and and a 147 gallon fuel capacity. Try to keep both fairly full. Pretty darn close to 50:1 though

Double posting is not good forum manners, hibridge.
