hey guys,

I have a 2004 Johnson 90 hp outboard 2 stroke (plsrr) that I am going through hell with! One day a took my boat out and it started hard at the doc I ran it for a little then when I cut the engine the motor wouldn't start back up. When I brought it home the next day it started fine but ran terrible, then I would turn it off and it wouldn't fire back up till it rested. Well now it won't start at all, I found it wasn't gas and that there is no spark on all four of the coils. I replaced the optical sensor with no luck and don't have a kill switch so I think it boils down to either a bad power pack or stator. I don't have the tools to test either or. Has anyone had any similar problems that could please help it would be appreciated

you can buy a $5 multimeter and take some ohmn readings on the stator.
You sure it doesnt have a kill circuit (a black wire yellow stripe) to powerpack? How else does it kill spark then?

The kill switch on that motor was usually part of the ignition switch if it is stock. Go to cdielectronics.com for trouble shooting procedures.

I would say look into the power pack as they have very similar symptoms as your describing with working, not working and running badly.
