johnson outboard tach question

69' 85 horse johnson.<br />Do I specifically need a marine tachometer for<br />this motor, or would an automotive tach work?<br />I have located the grey wire in the harness but<br />I can't get a reading from a digital meter. What <br />range should I have it set on to see if I'm getting<br />a tach signal?

You're gonna need a two stroke outboard tach for that. I think Teleflex probably makes one that'll work for you.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty
