Re: johnson pitot question?

A pitot is a pressure sensor that was originally used on airplanes (still is) to determine air speed. It was adapted to boats for the same purpose.

It's a small transom mounted device with an air tube that runs to the speedometer. When the water pressure increases from forward movement, it takes that pressure up the tube to move a bladder in the speedo that in turn moves the needle for speed indication.

Most of them for boats are universal. You can find kits with tubing and hardware, or just the pitot itself at any major boat dealer / outlet.

iboats has it here: LINK Your purchase will help continue this forum's existence! :)
