I have this control, with two cables coming out from it, one is throttle & other shifting.. however probaby this is not the correct control box to wire to a outboard with electric shift lower unit (ie. 72 model john 50hp).

- Is it all possible is one question... & how? i like to stay away from that 3 way pull switch that I had read about (its probably ok to test if the shifting works while running on muffs but on the boat I wouldnt like that idea)

- what other options??

- anybody have the correct control box for this type of motor, what does it look like?? im interested to know abou the wiring part.. diagram etc..

:/No, the control that you have won't work. The correct control will have a shift switch in it. No way to add it to two-cable controls except in some rare cases.

There are two types of "electric" shifts. The early versions with spring clutches in the lower unit, and your type that is shifted hydraulically by electric solenoid valves, often also called Hydro-Electric. The controls are similar, but have different (look-alike) switches so you have to make sure you get the right one.
