Johnson Pressure Tank Problem

I have rebuilt and old Cruise a day pressure tank and everything is sealed. The problem is that when I push the priming button on top, it dosent pump fuel to the carb. I have rebuilt a Johnson CD12 5.5hp and I would like to fire it up. Is there a specific priming procedure to getting the fuel to the carb? I dont have the owners manual, only the service and parts manual.

Any thoughts?

I'm not an expert on these but i believe that the primer just pressurizes the tank with air just like the engine does when it is running.

pump up the tank, on the connector, push in on the gas side, be careful it may spit gas in your face. get the air out of the hose. other question, if you pump up the tank, and crack the fill cap does air escape, it it doesn't your not pumping.

are you sure the float needle is working. if stuck closed, it will not allow fuel to enter.
