Johnson QD Shift Rod

Does anybody know if a QD 15 shift rod (upper and lower) would work with a QD 19? I know the lower units are different but I don't have a qd 15 manual to check the part number against. The upper and lower shift rods on the qd 19 are 305321 and 305319 respectively. If anybody can tell me with certainty that they are interchangeable or if you have a parts manual for a qd 15 does it list the same part numbers?

HI lightwin. Here are some links to a parts manual and exploded diagrams for your QD-19 and a QD-16, but that's as close as I could find. I love the reverse two tone look of the '58 Johnsons. Good luck.

Looks like the QD 16 has different part numbers than the QD 19 for the shift rod. It appears that they are not compatible parts. Thanks for the links.

I'm sure you are aware that the mid section and lower unit were changed with the QD-19 1958 year. I uses a modified 7.5hp lower end, wheras the earlier ones used the 15-18hp lower. Virtually nothing is interchangeable.

1956 and 57 might be the only two years where parts will interchange with each other, as well as '54 and '55. The QD had the same lower unit from 1949 till '57, but there were several changes in the motors in those few years and there were only a couple years at a time, where things were interchangeable. Shift rods likely changed lengths in different years. Your QD 15 is a 1954 model and the QD 19 is a 1958 model. Totally different motors. You can see the parts list at marineengine.com They only go back to the QD 16 (1955) but it's the same as your QD 15.
