Welcome to the forum! The experts here, which I am NOT, can help you with any problem you encounter. Since you have already identified the model number of your motor, the next question is: "Do you have a factory service manual?"

No, I do not have the manual yet.

I wanted to make sure it was worth it before I invested any $.

Here's a pic of the way it should be. Looks like the bearing on the left is backwards and missing the race which fits in the indentation in the case. The rest looks ok - but your missing the large O-ring in the prop shaft seal (right end). Can't tell from your third pic if the yoke is on the end of the shift rod. If it is there, it rides in the piece in the upper right of the pic of your gears. That little piece sits on top of the clutch dog (between the two gears). That large C-clip in your pic upper left goes just forward (to the left) of the bearing on the right.

First off, I don't see the shift cradle fork. I dont know why, with the gearcase all apart, the lower shift rod is back in the upper shift rod.

In the third picture, I thought I was looking at the upper exhaust housing. What am I looking at?

Re: Johnson RDS 20 propeller shaft bearing

Thanks for the pic. I have figured that I am missing a race/cup bearing (timken 12520?)

As for whats the third pic of, it is the lower end minus the prop shaft cover and asmy.

I have the shift fork and cradel. The shift fork is still atatched to the rod. Unfortunatly I think it was moved on the trailer into the dirt and got bent.

If that shift rod is trash, let me know in a PM - I have a good one which I may be persuaded to part with.:) Also, while that Lower unit is off, I'd go ahead and replace all the seals - looks like you need to replace the prop shaft seal and O-ring anyway. Seal kit is only about $20.

Do you guys think I could straighten it out?

Re: Johnson RDS 20 propeller shaft bearing

You may be able to bend it, but it will be trial and error to get it back so it shifts properly into forward and reverse. That whole shift mechanism has to be pretty precisely adjusted to shift properly.
