1996 v4 johnson 130 hp 90 degree pusing a 18.5 1996 Kenner deep V.
New engine to me. Compression is 140 at each cylinder. Had a lean idle spit/cough and would die if engine idled for extended period. Decarcarbonized and changed recirculation valves still had spit/cough but not as frequent. Rebuilt/cleaned carbs and spit went away. However at wot and motor trimmed fully the engine will surge. It is a very faint surge, you cant even see any drop on the rpm. When I trim down a couple of inches the surge becomes very infrequent and almost non-existent. This was my first carb rebuild and I am thinking that the float and needle probably are not adjusted properly. Although, I did not really see any adjustments that could be made. Other than that problem, the engine runs great. Any ideas?
