I have a Johnson TN26 5.5 engine that has been setting for 30 plus years. I want to get it running and have found that the coils have deteriorated to a point that they need replaced. I found what i thought were replacement coils on EBay and after buying and installing they interfered with the flywheel. Does anyone have the part number for these coils and where can I buy the correct coil? Thanks

Certain it is a TN26..... ?? .my understanding is that magnetos with those coils started with TN27 which I have one in the shed...
(make certain coils line up on the base edge (see picture)
I purchased it years ago BECAUSE it had standard coils like you have there

T(X) experts will chime in

Crosbyman, I checked my engine and it is in fact a TN27. Not sure how I was convinced it was a TN 26. Sorry about leading you down the wrong path. Happen to know the correct part number for those coils? Thanks again for getting me on the right track.

btw do not discard the little rubber slide on socks at the High voltage pins on the coils ... reuse them . lots of utubes & Leroys on rebuilding these ignitions ..coils, points, condensers

use 7mm metallic core wire only
...you should do the plug wires while refurbishing this oldy .

here is what I use because they come with new boots

modern coils have a screw like HV pin on the coils... make certain you screw in the new plug wires the fulll depth of the screw pin itself about .5 inch deep . apply a dab of dielectric grease and slide the "rubber sock" over the coil plug boot to either primaty wires you should read 4-7 KOhms
