Johnson V4 and Rude 🤪Ficht lower end

Johnson/Rude lower end compatibility. Trying to snag a 1999 Rude 175 hp lower end for my 1994 Johnson V4 140 hp. Looked at some interchange charts and appears the Rude lower end will not work....can anyone confirm?? Sure looks a lot like the V4 lower...thanks for the help!!!

What reason/rational makes you want to stick a V6 case on a 140?

Some of the big V-4 loopers did have a V-6 gearcase installed at the factory.

So I suspect that I will have to attempt to get a part number off this lower end and confirm. Appears from the two realsponses above that it may fit. Thanks! Anyone else have some inputs?

Model numbers of the 2 motors are required to check this out.

When the Loopers debuted in 85, they had the V6 sized gear case, but whether it would fit a V6 I can't remembrer. A few years later they replaced it with the smaller V4 sized case. It might have had something to do with all bogging/hesitation issues those engines had in their early yrs. In the late 90s they had the bigger case on the Looper which was 130 HP once again.

The housings look alike but its the gear ratios that is different...V4 with big case is 2.3.1 ratio and V6 is 1.87......so no it will not fit.
