johnson v4 tilt problem

Hello i have a johonson V4, the problem i am having is when you press tilt and trim button you can hear motor going but after about 30 seconds pump cuts in and lifts motor same when coming down it has the two rams some one said it could be low on oil i have checked un done screw and a bit of oil come out, also i was told might be air in the system how do i get that out also is there anything else it could be when rams come on it lifts it up real good. any help would be great.

Make sure the revervoir is full when the engine is tilted up. Cycling the trim/tilt up and down a few times will bleed air from the system. Recheck the oil level and keep adding/cycling the trim- till it shows full.

Thank you i will try that put motor all the way up then fill res and then i will loosen screw a little and go up and down with motor. Then tighten res screw.

I had a similar problem on a past motor where it had to run for a bit before going either direction. Turned out to be corrosion and other gunk on the bracket it pivots on. After giving up on everything else I hosed the thing down with WD-40 for a few minutes while running it up and down and helping it when necessary, and a half a can later it was operating up and down like new. I guess it was requiring a lot of pressure to build up before it could get the force it needed to move? Worth a try for you.
