Thinking about deleting the VRO and just premixing. mine is a 1997 Johnson 200 Ocean Pro J200TXEUA. Its 23 years old. All original and i'm just afraid its gonna fail. No body uses the boat but me so I dont have to worry about no pre mix forgot to add.Plus would i have too remove the VRO fuel pump and add just a regular pump? I heard that leaving the old pump hooked up wouldnt supply enough fuel on top end.

you could replace the OMS pump. They are avail other places that dealers for a reasonable price.

The OMS pump always provides the right fresh gas/oil mix to the motor. That helps it to idle run better and helps keep all 6 carbs cleaner. As you know, after a couple of weeks a premix gets heavy with oil.

Gee, a little thing called evaporation. Gasoline does it, oil does not....

Chris are you saying the OMS is I take it ( oil metering system) ? This is the same as the VRO just called the OMS?
If so i saw them on sale on Amazon for under $200. Maybe that would be the way to go. I have the original VRO on the engine. A buddy had his fail on his 150 and it wiped out the engine. Whats your opinion on these aftermarket pumps?

My 1968 LAWNBOY power mower runs just fine at 16:1 mix.------Powerful and runs like new.-----I think there is nothing to worry about with premix due to a wee bit of evaporation !!

I believe the oil mixing pump on your motor is the 4 wire OMS pump. A visit to the crowleymarine web site would get you the correct part number. You could then search for a replacement on the web.

There are likely OEM and aftermarket pumps available from multiple sources. That should yield a low price.
