I don't know if your '58 has it, but if there are any wires coming from up underneath the flywheel disconnect and isolate them from everything. By the sounds of it you do have a kill switch, which is what those wires should lead to. If you've still got no spark, it's time to pull the flywheel.<br /><br />To remove the flywheel, I use a 'harmonic balancer puller' used for American cars. You also need three long 1/4inch-20tpi (this is an American/Imperial bolt size, tpi is 'Threads Per Inch') bolts to go with it. Here's a picture of one:<br />
<br />If the coils have cracks in their insulation, they'll need to be replaced. Have a look at Tom Travis' site on setting up the magneto plate. It's the same as his 5.5hp and 3hp:<br />
