Hi all you very helpful boaters out there. I have asked this same question before but recently the result was questioned.Could you possibly find the year for my motor?Johnson Seahorse 75hp model No j75erlc1m serial No boo4981. Because this is quite an old motor are there any checks I need to do on a regular basis to keep this motor in good running order and is it worth it?

BigOldBoy.... I'm going to assume that you have misread ther model number of that engine, pertaining to the digit folowing the "C". That digit should be a "I", not a "1". In which case the model number of j75erlc1m that you listed would be J85ERLCIM. The "CI" within that model number would indicate that the engine is a 1981 model.

Thanks Joe with that year. I think you are right about the digit. It was just someone that said Johnson didn,t make 75HP motors in the eightys. If you have the time could you give me your opinion of this motor and the rest of my previous question. Thanks a lot.
