Hello all,

I just bought my 1st boat, a 1976 crest pontoon with a 1960 40hp Johnson.
I have never done work on a boat motor before so forgive me I am still new at this.

The motor has not run in a coulpe years and in doing some reaserch on my own I figured the
Compression is good, spark is ok, and the carb gets no fuel. So to start I should do the following, plus some stuff below I feel that maybee it just good to do while I'm at it. (So I don't have to worry about it in the middle of the summer).

Purchase and install:

1 Carb re-buld kit.

2 Tune up kit (Points, condensers, Cam Oiler).

3 Waterpump re-build kit (I guess the impellers are rubber on these things, and only last a few seasons).

4 Fuelpump re-build kit.

5 New fuel lines & Circular-clamps.

6 New Plugs & Plug wires.

7 Change the Gear oil in the bottom end.

8 Maybe add some light fuel stabil in my first tank of gas?

9 AND OF COURSE..... BUY A MANUAL
I am hoping the manual will go over re-setting the carb. That is the only thing I am a little worried about. I know if that is not right you can be screwed up all summer.

Am I missing something major in this list above?

Thanks in advance,

Hopefully after getting a summer under my belt I will be able to help others here.

-Rooky
