What with the warm stretch here in NH (40's and 50's for over a week now)I had to do it. I went and got the boat out of storage this morning and started doing my normal beginning of the year work over. I have sorted the tackle box and put new line on my rods. Am I the only one who is Freakin' Nuts!!!
signed
Throbbin Rods

Nope! I've pulled out my seats, removed the steering and gauges, tore out all the wiring back to the engine's harness. Oh man, what have I done?!? I've got to get this put back together in six weeks!!!

40s and rain here.

I'm going out Saturday rain or shine!

There's a lake close to me that has some real nice lake trout that have been calling me in my dreams....

Now if I can figure out how to modify that old trolling motor to work on my boat....
I usually use buckets out the back to slow my hog down, but a trolling motor would be nice.

I'm a tight-wad and don't want to spend the big bones on a longer-shaft motor!

H.

Reading your posts keep me cool, just had a weekend of 47c (117f), a record run. Couldnt use the boat because it was to HOT.

Hey you guys, don't forget "Reel Magic" spray for your fishin' gear. A little spray on the reel and the eyes on the rod works wonders. Can really make the spring readiness drill shorter.

Dunaruna, sounds like you'd make a good riverat, on the Colorado River, in Arizona. It gets so hot there you'd think you were in a blast furnace. Need lots of Bloody Marys in your radiator to keep you cool.

Have a few new toys to add to boat then she is ready..Put the muffs on a few days back and cranked em up. As long as the ice is off the lakes let it snow. I look at it as another form of liquid sunshine..

It may have been a little strange to my neighbors when they saw me sitting in my boat and casting into my yard. When they asked I just looked at them and said you just don't understand. The cats loved it when I was reeling back in with a lure of cat-nip attached. Yes I did practice catch and release here. :)

Re: Jumping the Gun

We are still looking at a foot of solid black ice, people are still driving on it-even after a week of 50 degree weather. The rivers are starting to break up, but it's still gonna be about a month before we can do any fishing :(

Winterize, Whatcha all talking about. Bass are spawning and hitting on crawdads like crazy right now. And for you "Salts" 13.7 miles out in an area the locals call the "Potato Patch", white sea bass are at a record high.
No good Albacore runs this year though

Your right about this. I can't wait to go outside and take the cover off, put the bimini top back on, and get ready....actually mentioned doing it yesterday but was quickly rebuked by the other half.
So I typed up a checklist last night, everything to do for spring re-activation.

Re: Jumping the Gun

I have been jumping back and forth between my boat and my truck, temps have been near 50, and then I woke up this morning to 5 inches of snow. I was not pleased, but it will be back up near the 50s again after the weekend....

I had my boat out last weekend. It was my first successful run around the lake in it since I restored it. It sure was nice, and no leaks.

Huh? We're getting snow right now. 4"-12" in the next 12 hours. How's that for an open ended forecast?

Batteries are charged(always), the new line is on, tackle box has been organized and EXPANDED  , bearings have been greased, and I bought a new Stanley coffee thermos.

The motor will test run in a couple weeks, and I'll be fishing for pre-spawn walleyes in 4 weeks. Oh no, wait, I'll have house guests that weekend. Will have to wait till Good Friday to launch.
