What is it, with me and junk, i love it, can't be without it.

Any one else out there with the same disease ?

3 complete dashboards from boats, parts galore.

Parts from lawnmowers all over.

I mean eventually someone will call me and i have what they need.

But common is there a help group like AAA.

J.C.A. I am in need of some serious help to deal with my affliction.

Tools forget about it, every stikin tool imaginable. Uncle was a plumber retired got everything.

Another uncle a body man fixed cars.

I mean, when i want a tool, i can't find it thats how many box's i have.

Re: Junk collector, is it a disease ?

Shoot I'm just as bad...

I've got 2 almost complete dashboards from a boat. I also have new old stock vintage boat parts as well, forgot how many of those I have around. Plus I have outboard motors, 4 of them don't run, 2 of the 4 may never run again. I have an I/O laying around that I pulled out of a boat.

5 junk boat hulls, 1 of them belongs to my father, 2 of them I'll most likely be bringing up to the burn pile.

I have 1 nearly complete moped around back that I wished I could get running, haven't a clue on whats wrong with it. My father and I both have parts stashed up in the storage building out back, he has a bunch of lawn mower parts, I have boat parts, ATV parts, and some other stuff.

I have 3 maybe 4 piles of scrap metal that I've saved up for an emergency money only, or when the price gets up on scrap again. My father has is stash of scrap metal as well. My shed looks like a tornado went through in there still , and that's after I've moved alot of the boat stuff up to the storage building.

It is directly related the size of your garage, shed or barn. No matter how much space you have there will not be enough.

Since I am a paint contractor I had a problem with left over paint instead of leaving it on the job or throwing it away I would put it in my garage , two years ago I decided to try to kick the habit went and bought 25 bags of 25lbs of cat litter (only way to get rid of paint)and mixed up around 300 gals of paint(at the time that was 28 years in business).Wife got happy little did she know that there was going to be a boat to replace the paint:cool: now I got a problem with cleaning paint cans 1's or 5's I got to clean them anybody need a bucket :D:D

My friends a painter also got thousands of clean paint cans, he stores everything in them.

I use coffee cans, can't seem to throw them away, and milk crates.

They stack, and hold alot. I love milk crates all different color ones.

I use them as saw horses also, as a step, to get on my boat swim platform.

Can't get enough of them.

Eagle Jim, help me out. What does the kitty litter (I know what it is) do and how do you use it to dispose of paint?

Re: Junk collector, is it a disease ?

It is the only way that the local landfills will take paint in buckets. It is an epa thing(or at least our local dumps)what they say is all paint latex or oil has to be mixed, what happens is it dries the paint out and when hard it is like cement.I thought when I was doing this it had to be dried but after talking to the county it only had to be mixed, the first 150 gal I let sit out and cooked (dry out)that took most of the summer the next 150 went to the dump like half dried concrete, did not want a big fine that is why I checked with the people in charge,it my very from state to state.

We have hazardous waste days three or four times a year here. You can bring all your old paint and other chemicals etc. No explosives allowed. Some of the landfills have hazardous disposal anytime if you bring it yourself.
