Thanks for the help on getting my motor up and running like it should.1967 9.5 sportwin. The only problem i have now is when i twist the throttle to speed up it turns nice and easy, but when i turn the throttle down it is very hard to twist? I greased all the grease zerts. Then ever now and then it will throttle down easily,so in not shure what the prob could be. I have to use 2 hands to turn the grip sometimes.

I'm not familiar with your year Sportwin, but it may just be gunked up inside. The tiller/throttle handles on the older OMC's are serviceable. Remove the grip, then the handle itself comes apart in two pieces after you remove four bolts. If you try this it's good to have a parts diagram handy, maybe ask the guys at "www.aomci.org" on the Ask A Member board to share one. Might also be something cracked or broken inside, but sounds like old gunked up grease causing problems.
