A little backgrounAbout a month ago, I replaced the water pump impeller and reassembled. When I started the first time, it ran fine. The second start clunked loudly and then the starter would only spin. I took the starter off and had rebuilt. Assuming I had hydrolock I also replaced the plugs (no sign of water) and checked the oil(no sign of water there either). After the plug replacement, the boat started and ran perfectly. A day later, all I get is a soft click when trying to start. I checked and retightened all connections. I also replaced the slave solenoid on the top of the motor. Still just a click. Any ideas?

Hi there, Have you checked your battery volts to see it's condition? For a more accurate battery test, A battery load tester or cold cranking amp analyzer makes testing nice. http://www.harborfreight.com/digital-automotive-battery-analyzer-66892.html

Linked below is a helpful guide to help you test your starting system.

A Soft Tapping on the side of the starter while someone turns the ignition key may help tell you if you still have a starter problem. Also check to see if the engine turns ever so slightly and goes back to it's original position indicating a lock.

If you pull the starter again, you may as well check all your teeth on the flywheel to ensure they are all okay.

Hope you find the problem soon, good luck.:)
