i think there should be a tool thread added to the forums. being serious here i thing it would help people out. if there removing a deck they can ask what tools the best and get advise on it. or when they have to fix some thing on a trailer or on a boat that never did before and what tool would be the best for it. just and thought i had.

Seems to me you could just ask in your boat restoration and building thread.

Personally, if you are around tools much at all, you pretty much know what does what. There may be some specialty items that will work better than other on occasion, but Sig is right. Ask your question in your thread.

I think asking about a tool in the thread your working in is a better choice. To be clear, I have a thread in the mercruiser section. I wouldn't want to have to start a new thread in the tool section to help me with my original thread. It would seem like back and forth too much. I know I could just ask the question in the first thread, but some people can get pretty cranky with the "you should really post that question in the ....... section".

I believe that anyone who is going to do a proper restoration will have read several restoration threads by the time they get started and will probably already know what to use where.

Proper research is the first step to any project, and if you miss it in your research ask a question in your thread and there are several knowledgeable people who will answer it.

Why start a thread if not to get information other than to just show off your work but then it wouldn't be a restoration thread it would be a let's show it off thread.

Yes there should be tool thread for people who don't have a clue on how to use tools or what tool to use for what job their doing on thier boat, home, car and other stuff they might own. I know that using the right tool for job is a MAJOR thing people do wrong a lot of time.
And that is coming from an old mechanic who HAS seen it all
There some very very stupid people out there and you would be surprised at some the ideas they come up with on how to fix things and what tool they use for the job. It would make for very entertaining/funny tv program as well. You know kinda like the worst handly man shows only a lot worse then that. Hey give it try you just might have good laff over it. (As long as no one gets hurt doing it)
