Just bought a 95 bayliner with a 120 force, after fixing a minor problem with the reverse we took it out and everything went smooth. Think me and my dad got a pretty good deal on the boat the previous owner had 2 years worth of service records he took it to the shop every month but did notice she don't pee all that great but the water that is coming out is warm..

i have two force 50 one on my boat and one spair and both run nice and cool and very little water comesnout the pee hole. I'm installing a temp guage this sprin gust so i can keep a eye on it. I cant see why the engine bilders dont install them in all boats. It only coost like $30 for all the parts.

The 50's,they are a cheap motor and the manufacturer won't spend money on an inexpensive unit.
It would probably cost maybe??? $5 to install it at the factory, but $5 x 150,000 motors. That's 750,000 they didn't spend!!!

The 120 1995 is Mostly Mercury. It's probably full of corrosion. Try a piece of weed eater line in the hole, or back flush with water, maybe compressed(not too much)air.
Supposed to be warm.

i will try a piece of weed eater line and i was saying the water was warm because i thought if the motor was not getting enough water even what was coming out it would be really hot

99% of the HOT goes out the exhaust.
That whizzer is just to let you know it's pumping.
If they directed the hot water out the tube they'd have a ton of lawsuits for not telling them it would burn.
The other side?? If that water IS that hot something's wrong and needs to be checked.
Impeller bad, thermo not opening, clogged exhaust chest bypass clogged?

Yup, key on and ground out the themp sender. It should make the alarm sound.
If it doesn't then don't take it out till it's been checked.

First off, the big engine manufacturers have gotten people used to the idea of a pee-hole. None of my engines have one and I don't miss them. Think of it this way: How often do you look back while running? If you lose water, it will take MAYBE all of 30 seconds to overheat. Are you going to look back every 15-30 seconds to be sure water is pumping? I think not. A pee hole is a useless piece of equipment.

A water pressure gauge or water temperature gauge and an overheat alarm is much preferable.

To test the overheat alarm, there is a buttom behind a rubber grommet in the head. The button can only be tested if you remove it. HOWEVER: if you follow that colored wire to a terminal and short the terminal to ground with the ignition on. the buzzer will sound indication that at least it is working.

Water coming out the pee hole is taken off the top of the head. It has traveled through the exhaust chest water jacket and the cylinder water jacket, so yes, it will be warm.

As a novice boater, I am going to stick up for those people who like there engine pee-ing. It gives me a bit of reassurance when I start my engine that the water pump is indeed operational, at least at that moment. And as someone who cooked their engine a couple of years back, yes I do look back at the pee stream . . . a lot. I realize the impeller can fall apart instantly but a new tire can go flat also and we get all warm and fuzzy when we have fresh rubber, don't we? Same idea with me and the pee-er I guess.

I have the same boat with the 120 force and I have no complaints.
Love it. Seem like you would need to change the impeller. it is actually easy to change. you can go to youtube. there is some good tutorials there.
Happy boating!
