i just bought a running 20foot 1971 well craft. has an outboard runs pretty good. i am taking everything out of it just to get a refit of everything done. clean the console rewire some things add some lights the usual. well i want to make the hull look nice, i am going to be painting it white and adding an american flag design to it. the boat will be trailered and never left in the water expect for maybe some late night fishing trips. i also want to redo the floor so it shines also. my questions are as follows

1. for the hull can i paint the hull and floor with the same white base paint?
2. do i need primer?
3. how do i make a nice non slip flooor without buying the expensive non slip paint crap?
4. what is the best type of paint for this project? do i need that special anti crap paint or anything like that? do i need a gel coat or anything?
5. for the paint is there a one step paint that has the shiny hardner already in it?

thanx for the replied in advance, oorah.

Check out Interlux's "How To" Section. I have been reading about painting as well and found most members on a few forums have great respect for their products.

Non-slip floor, sure, no problem. Add white sand to the paint - same thing. I did this once when repainting a fish well cover about 2 feet by 6 feet last year. The texture was the same basicly. If it's too rough after using the sand and paint combination, give it aditional coats without the sand.

One step paint, sure take a look at the link above. They use the roll and tip method. Watch the videos.

Good luck and post BEFORE and AFTER pics!!!
