Yeah... I'm pretty sure it is nothing compared to what people here have but I just bought a 1960 Johnson Holiday with a 1959 Johnson super sea horse 35 engine... I need to remount the seats, find a windshield, and I think the carburetor needs adjusted, but over all it is in good shape other than that. I only paid $100 for it and the motor seems to run at full throttle but dies at idle.

But all in all as a newer person to the oat world any words of wisdom that anybody can share with me?

We all started somewhere and a little runabout with an outboard sounds like a good starting point to me. Let's see some pics!

Uhhhhh....yeah that would be worth $ 100....tell you what, meet me in Dallas and I will buy it from ya for $ 200 and you double your money:) First - nobody on here has anything on your boat cuz it's yours. I personally love the older models and get that windshield, buff out the gel-coat, get a tune up on the Sea-Horse and add a chrome base-wooden pole and flag on the back deck. Some wooden seats with tie in cushions and an old coleman metal ice chest - ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!

That boat will be a head turner and you will have a total blast...these new models are a dime a dozen regardless of the price. I have a Four Winns H210SS but park these side by side and it's yours that will get the attention i assure you. The reason is simple - your boat has stood the test of time and is over 1/2 a century old. In 50 years I will be dead and my boat will be a recycled picnic table...take care of her and that boat will be hanging around far longer than the new ones out there.

Give some TLC and get her out of the elements when not in use.

OH - i like your boat if you haven't noticed

AND tow it to the lake with that TA in the background... cool stuff.

We went camping at Canyon Lake in TX and i ran across a retired couple camping....they had an International Truck and a 60's model fiberlgass kit boat they assembled as a couple after they were married. That boat was awesome as was their Truck and slide in camper (all late 50's early 60's stuff). They were at the lake with a family group - 4 GENERATIONS of family enjoying the same boat. I talked to Great Grandma for an hour that morning about their boat and how she and her husband worked to assemble it themselves....later that day i ran accross her in her floppy hat pulling the great-grandkids on a tube....I remember thinking to myself - move aside everyone cuz she has earned the Right Of Way.....Pretty damn awesome stuff in my book!!!
