Hey guys,

I just purchased a 1992 byliner with a 120force outboard. I'm new to boating and just trying to figure out what to look for. The motor only has 189 hours on it and looks really good for it's age. I'm hoping to take this boat out this weekend for a test run. The past owner said he took it out once this year but has not changed the impeller. Am I safe on taking this out? How can I even tell if I need a new impeller?

If its older than 2-3 years(sure sounds like it is)It needs to be changed.
Your gonna put it in the water and have trouble the very first trip.
Not a good way to start especially if the wife is going!!!
A couple of things!!! The drive oil is probably old too. There is a screw on the side of the drive.DON"T touch. It hold the linkage in and will cost a bunch to have it fixed.
The drain is on the bottom.
The fuel pump could probably need a new diaphram.
The hoses need to be upgraded.New squeezie too.
Just to be sure.Do a compression/spark test before you do anything.Any problems there and you won't go far.
Good luck with the new boat.Don't mean to scare you!!!

Always ask if there are any questions.J
