In my 77 Reinell i have the inline 6 GM engine (165). Say i want to take and put a 350 or 355 in it. Would i have to change anything on the transom? motor mounts?

Ha yep motor mounts for sure. What type of drive? What gear ratio? Dude just buy a v8 donor boat and change it all! Or a donor boat with a gm 350 and try to find the right flywheel and coupler set up. Im sure a inline gm has the same bell housing pattern as a 4.3/5.0/5.7. I did it with a 305 to 350. All the assecories went right on. Hey you could really clown and put a 5.9 cummins in it and listen to turbo whine. I want a duramax in mine

ya my buddy has a 4bt engine sitting around. im big into cummins, i have a 5.9 in my truck sitting at 400hp. love those old engines. people dont realize how much you can do to them when theyre all mechanical. (im a master diesel mechanic and hate electronics) just seein what id have to do to put a small block chevy race engine in it and really suprise people with the ol' 77' cabin cruiser lol I dont know what the gear reduction ratio is. All i saw on the transom was OMC so its an OMC motor and Drive?

I dont know much about those older omc's. But yeah it can be done. Your a gear head too so it would be easier for you. Im a diesel mechanic too but no master! Worked on Detroits, cat and cummins. Mechanical all the way. I love the B model cats and 855's ive got a b model in a 91 pete 379. Little pump work=smoke like a freight train!

Ayuh,.... You'd need to change everything from the pulleys to the prop, 'n rebuild the engine bed to accept a V-motor...
