I don't remember Starliner. A friend had a built 427 Fairlane 500 '63 maybe, with a B&M Hydro. Lots of fun8)

Re: Just for you old hot rodders!

The Ford Starliners were homologated models (minimum of 500 produced for public sale) for the specific purpose of making them 'production' cars to qualify to run in NASCAR races. That was back when stock car racing had, at least, some pretense of using stock cars.

I believe that Ford produced the Starliners from 1960 through 1962. They were beautiful cars. I think, starting 1963, the normal Ford Galaxie Sedan rear roof line had a sufficiently aerodymic shape to it that they did not have to make a special model.

That was the day of Freddy Lorenson, when Ford ruled the roost. I was in High School at the time and those models were really hot. I loved them. I even built models of them. I should have found one and kept it before they became such hot property.

Thanks Boomyal, that makes me feel better. I went to the Riverside 500 in '65 or '66, what a blast. Did you have a good time on Shasta? I drove 6,000 miles through 8 states in the last 5 weeks. Had a great time.

Here's your answer JRJ.

Not too bad for a 60 year old. It was a gorgeous place. I hated to come home.

That's my restored Gulfstream tied up to the side.

By the way JRJ, we drove down to Redding before heading north just to get some of these.

Sorry LubeDude, did not mean to hijack. Love your taste in cars. Do you think that Skyliner will pass DEQ? And by the way, glad that you are still LUBEDUDE.

Was the starliner first, or the Impala bubble top?

They won`t sell it and it`s still waiting to fall through the floor and the roof falling in on it.

As to the starliner, That`s not a picture of the one in the collection I manage, I just posted this for the sound, I thought it sounded cool.

As to the Bubble top question, Chevy was first with that one. The starliners were produced for only two years, 60-61. There were lots of them made, but the rare one`s were the big block standard trans models. If you wanted the 401 HP, you got the tri power in a box in the trunk and the dealer had to install it. Also, you couldn`t get it in a 4 SP, if you wanted a standard trans you had to order the three speed with overdrive. Later in 61 they found that those were not holding up and you could order a Munci four sp and have the dealer install it. The one in the collection is a 401 HP with a dealer installed four speed.

Now, the convertable models were called Sunliner`s and there are not many of those.

Yeah Aldo, the house boat was a rental. It was 115 deg F out and we spent more money running the generator (for airconditioning) than we did running the house boat. 6$ American for a gallon of gas on the lake.

The burger, now that would be worth a trip from Down Under to experience. A small west coast family owned chain. They got lines any time of the day. All freshly ground beef and freshly cut potatoes. Yummmmmm. We drove 60 miles out of our way to get them.

'dude, I thought they made them in '62 as well but I could not find any evidence of them on the internet. Ford didn't even have the sloped back galaxie in '62 like they did in '63. It was a square back window that would not have been aerodynamic.
