Just got a 56 Evinrude 15 and I'm looking for some parts...

I just purchased an evinrude 15016, a Johnson 18, and a sea king 15... Payed 120 for all three. I started messing with the Rude and found that it was locked up. It turns out that the... (please forgive my ignorance through out my babbling...) bottom cap on the lower unit had water in it that caused it to freeze and bust but fortunantly it seems only the lower cap was hurt. I purchased a can of liquid wrench and somehow got all the bearings and gears to turn nice and smooths except the drive gear on the end of the shaft. So.. I'm looking for a new or used drive gear and the bottom cap. I found new water pump parts so that will be nice. Can't wait to find the rest and put her on the back of my 1957 Sport Kraft. Also the Rude is a really neat green color.. Was it originally grey and faded to green? Thanks for any help!

Might find you already have the parts onhand. The 18hp Johnson likely has the same gears as the 15. Even if the gears aren't individually identical, they should swap as a set. Also, if the Sea King is OMC-built, it, too, will have the same style gears. Might find the entire lower unit of either the Sea King or Johnson will just bolt right up!

Thanks for the info. The Johnson is a no go.. Lol. My dad has laid claim to it. The sea king on the other hand is up for grabs parts wise. I'll take a look tonight.
