just got a new one...

I just got a 59 mark 6A and it wont go in to neutral where should I start?
I gave 50.00 for it and it runs so I dont think I got a bum deal just want to get it right

That may be the motor I've heard mentioned about on a few occasions that had some weird spring thing gear selection and operation system, and perhaps also had the water pump up under the powerhead?

If so, you might be best off to polish it up and leave it propped up in the corner as a showpiece rather than try doing the repairs.

I think they were referred to as a silent 6
