Ok guys , Just got back and good news!! She floats!!!!

anyway it idles perfect and runs to 2 grand like a dream... After 2 grand she stumbles. I had my dad drive and looke down car and saw fuel spitting down carb. We are thinking she has a bad fuel pump cause it sounds like its running lean of fuel. The plugs were fouled but i think they got taht way when i 1st started motor and had dist 180. I changed plugs and runs the same way. One question i have is should this fuel pump have enough pressure so that when i take fitting off the carb shouldnt fuel drip/come out of line a bit? Cuase when i take line off i get 0 gas comming from line.

thanks guys,

also does napa or disount sell fuel pumps for my little 89 3.0?

Big-E

Napa sells fuel pumps. I believe in certain maunuals it will give you a volume amount the pump must do while cranking. You would put the fuel line into a jar (with coil wire removed) and see how much of the jar fills up.

Certain marine fuel pumps are directly vented into the intake for safety with an additional line. If you have fuel in that vent line then the fuel pump is bad.

Bob

I believe that you have the pump with the water seperator like mine. Mine wasnt working well so I took it apart and cleaned everything and sprayed it with wd 40 and it worked after that. I believe the pump you need is about 125. 00. I took mine to Auto Zone but they didnt have anything that was close to the hookups

Hey guys, thanks for your replies.. Well i was tinkering with the boat and one of my older neibors came over and said to check the points. (im 25 so i dont have much exp with them) i had them adj way wrong.. I adj then to what the manuel says and fired her up.. WOW she will rev like crazy and sounds like a real hot rod now. BTW i pulled the fuel pump outlet off to carb and it pumps lots of gas.

BTW my vent line had no gas in it.. I think shes ready for shack down cruise 2 tomorrow.. Hey thats why they call them shake down cruisers..

thanks for the quick replays guys

later,

Big-E
