I am no expert, but I successfully installed mine ... you need to make sure the the short black water hose adapter is lining up with the pump when you re-install the lower.
Otherwise, water will go everywhere except in the engine block where its supposed to . An yes, the lower needs to be tightened to spec.

Yes, make sure the water tube is connected properly.

But water will leak out around the shift shaft and a couple weep holes when running it on the muffs.
There is so much water coming into the mid section with the exhaust, and it doesn't readily get blown out with the exhaust when running at lower rpm.

Will drop the foot tomorrow and check the water tube.

But would the water tube not being correct still show a strong stream coming out of the pee hole?

If the tube wasn't hooked up it wouldn't have a strong stream. It would be slow in comming out of the exhaust and a whole lot more water would be comming out everywhere else.
Since your dropping, take the hose and put it on the copper tube and turn it on. Not real hard, too much pressure can blow the seal.
Then with a flashlight look up inside the housing and see if there is any water leaking around the top of the copper tube. A very small amount is ok.Too much ??? The seal will need to be fixed. Post the results.

Re: Just got done replacing water pump...

with my experience like jerry said it is hard to tell though becouse of all the access water i just always make sure the water tube is in first then go to the back n lign up shift cable !! a extra hand helps this seems to work the best for me ??? it also helps to turn the preassure dwn as much as possible but enough to send out weep hole too much preassure is no good ...i know on mine water comes out everywhere not so much mid section though more of exhaust ports a lil but it is cooling fine so it took me about three or four tries i couldnt get it by myself had to get help to hold it up so i could lign up shifter cable !!!

That's a great idea to check for a leak. Didn't think of that
Since I replaced mine, there seems to be a very little water coming out of the tellale at idle until I rev the the engine...then it comes our strong
The challenging part I find is how you can confirm the tube gets aligned correctly , its hard to see when putting the lower back up

Looks normal. Do the test, make sure the tube is hooked up.
You won't get any water out the whizzer if the tube isin't hooked up.
