Good Day Everyone,
Some of you may be reading and see my name and go... Man, he still doesn't have that thing fixed yet?
To start with, here's my previous thread
http://forums.iboats.com/mercruiser-i-o-inboard-engines-outdrives/water-top-4-3-mercruiser-hydrolocked-once-pictures-589285.html#post4077650
In short, While out on the lake, the engine lost power while I was skiing... started spitting and sputtering and while trying to get it to "Limp" back to shore, it hydrolocked.
Got water out of engine at home (removing plugs, turning engine over).
Hooked water back to leg and fired up (ran great in the driveway)
Long story short, I dissasmebled engine, found water on the top part of engine and in cylinders.
Checked Manifolds for corrosion and proper flow, No leaks.
Checked Compression in Engine. - GOod in all cylinders (175PSI)
Found a spot on the Intake Gasket to have a breach I think.... (see pictures in previous thread)
Got all new gaskets and put it back together and buttoned it up...
After firing up in driveway with muffs on.. it began to run the Exact same way it did that day int he lake when it lost power... spitting , sputtering and shutting off when throttle was applied..
Did a series of tests and found very very low pressure (1-2 PSI) from the fuel pump to the carb.
My question is this:
If Indeed I have a bad fuel pump, or fuel flow problem... Could this have caused any water in the engine? Could the trying to limp back to shore by trying and trying to play with throttle and constatnly cranking engine cause water to maybe reverse into the engine? Could the engine run in reverse sucking water in from the exhaust manifolds (which were the old 1 piece design?
Can someone explain the two problems at the same time?
Thanks for all your help!
