anyone have an easy fix/replacement part for the shut off valve for a jw-10? the stem is bent , i straightened as best as possible, and tightened the packing nut, it went from a drip to just weeping gas, but leaking wont cut it lol! $50 for the part wont cut it either! (0300612).

Well, your other option is a good used one. Might try a (free) wanted ad at the Webvertize pages at The Antique Outboard Motor Club Website - AOMCI.org The correct valve uses a copper tube to the carburetor, which makes it kind of special. Yeah, you can probably rig up a lawn mower valve, but the tube will be wrong, and you more than likely won't be able to get the lower cowling on.

thats the issue Frank. i could easily get a shut off valve on the cheap, but it would be hidden behind the lower cowl and useless. i do have a few other jw's and the part number is the same, the valve stem on the 10 is much longer than the others....maybe its not right and has been replaced in the last 60 years with xxx?

Re: jw-10 fuel shut off valve

just saw a thread recently.... suggestion was to use a small shut off valve from a kohler engine... looked identical same threads to the gas tank

try this and install a rubber fuel line to a nipple connector on the carb.
