#1 is not the way to remove them.It can scratch the mating surface.
#2 shows the seal in an old pump(same procedures)
#3 shows it from the bottom.
#4 shows the screwdriver in from the bottom.Put the driver in the bottom and hit with a hammer.It should drive it out without damaging any sealing surfaces.J

Well I guess I am going to take the gear housing cover to a shop and have them get the seals out. At least that is the way I feel right now. I have pounded with hammer and screwdriver and the seal will not budge. Maybe I am not hitting it hard enough or somehting but it is so torn up that I have had to go to a screewdriver with smaller head to keep it from slipping. Maybe after the holiday I will get my patience back.

Well I ended up being able to get them off myself, i was not pounding hard enough. I guess a weekend on the lake fishing helped out with my patience. Thank for your help and the pictures.
