I have had my pwc for 2 years now and had minimal issues (except those caused by myself
) - took it out yesterday only to find it seems to be a bit noisier than it used to and seems to vibrate a bit more. Opened up the engine compartment started the engine whilst in the water and tried to identify where the noise is coming from... seems like vibration eminates from pump side and is not the engine causing it (mounts look fine). So... I am thinking probably requires new bearings on the pump (dont think they have ever been replaced). I have the manual and am going to go at it, thought i'd get some more expert opinions beforehand though. Once I have decoupled the driveshat between engine and pump are there any issues I should be weary of if starting the engine at that point - just trying to ensure I am not barking up the wrong tree. Once that is done it does not look like it shoudl be a big job to rebuild the pump, correct? Your views appreciated.
BTW anyone out there tried spraying on gelcoat using a HVLP spray gun, repairing some fibreglass patches and after performing the std paint on routine I am getting to the conclusion spraying the gelcoat on afterwards should be better.... anyone have experience?
thx.
