I am sure there are more knowledgable people than me out there. Been hearing dock/beach/bar talk more than once concerning KAWASAKI buying and branding the BOMBARDIER rec. products line. Cant come up with anything from FORBES or the W S JOURNAL but it might not be real exciting news.
Looks believable as BOMBA. does assemble all the subway and commuter trains for KAWASAKI on this continent although there heavy locomotive and aircraft business is seperate from the recreational products division. Might make sense as I am sure the big boys toys market is in the toilet for some time to come, might be time to unload it! Still dont see many new johnsons or rudes out there, mostly mercs, yamahas, suzukis and very few hondas that might be new. Would be interesting if there were production/ sales figures out there for each brand, might hint where there are some bargains. Anyone out there, especially from CANADA that has heard anything? regards FRED

Re: Kawasaki- Johnnyrudes

Rumor mill months back was that Kawasaki was looking to make small 4-strokes using old OMC designs as a base point. As we heard it, the Kawasaki engineers were at a BRP plant looking the old stuff over to see if, what and how they would build them to meet current EPA standards. It was unclear if it was going to be Kawasaki Outboards with a private label for BRP or if it was going to be BRP built, but subbed out to a Kawasaki plant for actual manufacturer. Might be real possibility of them putting a deal together, but its an awful time to enter a new player into the outboard market.
