KC, this is what I have come up with. Went to local dealer today to check out what they had. What he has is a (TEMPEST PLUS 14 5/8 X 25P 3 BLADE, VENTED)new in box for $682.00  said he would sell it to me for $600.00  . I think I will try to find a used one. Also talked to prop shop they will drill vent holes in my prop(HOOTER) for $35.00 to $40.00,I am droping the prop off to them in the morning.hope to have it back friday so I can try it out this weekend. :D I will let you know how that turns out.But it did do some good to see the (TEMPEST PROP) it looks different than mine the cup and rake aren't even close to mine and the blades are smaller.I got to look at the vent holes real good. They are pretty neet.I will update you on how thing turnout. Thanks,Joe

Re: KCLOST PROP UPDATE

JA, It's good you are having the vent holes drilled in your current prop first... Start with small holes first like the procedure mentioned and go larger in small increments to improve it further. Don't think that you need to have the same size holes in the Hooter Prop that were in the Tempest... They are completely different animals, not necessarily good vs. bad, but the same size vent holes could have completely different affects on one vs. the other. If you drill the holes too large, the prop will ventilate, at that point you will have to fill them in and start over...

I'm a strong believer in looking for used props... Ebay, ebay, ebay,.... It's crazy to spend that kind of money on a new one...

JAthans:

I have bought and sold about ten props on Ebay, and havnt been stung once, Its a great way to buy and try. Average price is around $2-350.00, much better than $600.00.

Re: KCLOST PROP UPDATE

agree with the above. I have a 17'er with a Merc V-6 150 HP. It came with a 20' prop, but was set up for skiing. Hits redline way too fast if you're not pulling someone. Bought a 25" Laser on ebay for about $125, but it's too much (if you want it, contact me at d*i*c*k*_taber@hotmail.com remove the ****. I'm currently running a 23 which is still just a bit much and looking for a 22 or 21
