I'm looking at buying a 'Keel guard' for the boat and those 'boat buckles' for the trailer.

Anyone used any of these? How'd you like them?

The Keel guard looks like it would be real handy when beaching the boat. It might save on some dings in the hull.

The boat buckles would be nice. I don't have to worry about looking for the straps, as the buckles attach right to the trailer permanently.

Thanks,

H.

Like most marine products, you can find them at most any dealer and online from a number of sources.
Backfire ;)

"Keel Shields" are available at most marine dealers for about $120, for an average size boat. The type I have on my boat self-adheres directly to the hull and then a bead of sealant (supplied w/kit) is put on the entire perimeter edge. There are other types that require the application of an adhesive to the boat and guard. I recommend guards to protect that vulnerable portion of the boat. I beach my bowrider all summer long in sand, along with a PWC. They protect very well.

Careful if you own a PWC, some keel guard products are not recommended for them. I'll be going on third season with my guards, with no problems, and my boats are in the water for the entire season. I got my guards on eBay for about 70% of retail price.

Thanks for the feedback.

I know the Keel guards are available from all over. I was just wondering if anyone owned them and how hard they were to install etc...

I seen them in a Bass pro book for $150 (for my 21 footer)

Sounds like they are a snap to put on and do what they advertise.

Thanks!

H.

I had the dealer install KeelGuards on both my new boats last year. They had to use a lift to raise the bow of the boats for the installations. Boats sit low on (bunk) trailers.

Work great so far.

PJ. I did notice that the instructions did have a warning about contact with keel rollers.
