Anyone have problems with their Keel guard comming off? Mine installed by dealer in June, total time on boat about 20 hours or less and its is comming away from the keel in several places along the guard. Did the dealer install it incorrectly? Is the product the problem? Boat 2005 Crestliner 1850 SF.

DOn't worry the thing is lifetime warranty if dealer installed.
Take it back to the dealer and tell them to make it right.

I installed a Keel Guard on my boat last summer. I followed the directions to the "T". It's holding tight with no signs of comming off. Sounds like the dealer screwed up.

I installed mine over three years ago and still holding tight. Dealer probably didn't prepare the surface correctly.

Re: Keel Guard comming off!

Two years on mine without any problems.

Two critical steps in the application are to lightly sand the surface and to use the bonding agent included in the kit. The entire preparation and application took about 45 min. I also sealed the edges with 3m marine adhesive and am very confident it is there to stay.

It is possible someone THOUGHT they knew what they were doing when they just pulled your Keel Guard out of the package, pulled the adhesive backing off, and stuck it to your boat. Then ended up heaving the rest of the stuff away so they didn't look stupid by not reading the instructions.

Re: Keel Guard comming off!

I installed my own on my boat and PWC, gone through four seasons on boat and three on the SeaDoo...no issues. Most require preparation of the application area...light scuffing/sanding and washing with alcohol or acetone. If the required preparation is not done properly the guards will fail in short order. Differnet brands use slightly different techniques, such as use of a bonding agent which must be applied. FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS is KEY
