Has anyone tried the Keel Guard or Keel Shield product? I was wondering if they are worth the $125 price tag for a piece of plastic.

Yes they work, protect glass boats and aluminum boats as well.

If you use the search function at the top of the page, search for "keel guard" or "keel shield" and you will find many testimonials.

Re: Keel Protection

I put one on last summer because the previous owner had beached the boat and worn through to the glass. I put marine tex over the glass to strenghten it and then put the KG over that. It looks great and I can now beach with confidence..

Check out sailnet.com for the best price. They sell them for dinghys but it is the same product. The 6ft oyster KG cost me $101 w/free shipping last year..

Hi guys,

I have never seen one of those, but the idea appeals to me...

Do they reduce the streamline of the hull any???

my keel at the front and the very back has had a hard life and could use some protection...

regards

Franki
