Keep it winterized or start it up?

I've been rebuilding the boat and it's been slow going. I have some hopes of getting it on the water before winter but that's fading fast. Last November I winterized my Etec with it's self-winterizing process, and it's sat in the driveway that way since. I know bad things happen when anything mechanical sits unused for long periods of time.

Your thoughts, should I go through the hassel of hooking up the guages, wiring and fuel system to fire it up, let it run for a while, then rewinterize it, or just let it sit as is until next spring?

I just watched a youtube video on self-winterizing an e-tec. It's such a simple process that I think I'd do it just for the peace of mind. Another consideration would be if Evinrude recommends a different process for an 'extended' layup vs. winterizing for one season.

I fire up my chaises at least once every 3 months imho if it's not that hard to winterize and fairly cheap I would fire it up

I would grind it out and get that boat finished. If you get it in the water for a few runs before winter sets in, you will have some good direction on finishing up the little things before next spring and getting through the winter looking forward to splashing her next year!

Thanks for the inspiration! That still is the ultimate hope but my wife's "to do" list for me has been long and I haven't even touched her since late June. At least the demo is done!
