I know everyone likes to trash talk the Force motors, Thats fine it doesn't bother me. But I have a 1991 Force 150 5cyl that has been problem free for over 16yrs. My question is, I understand that one of the problems is the Power head. What kind of things can I do to prevent problems in the future? Thanks:)

Main thing is to run the carbs slightly rich. You can judge this by looking at your spark plugs. Make sure you replace the impeller every other year and make sure the overheat sensor is working.

Kudos to you Ford !! I currently run an '89 125 "A" series on a 21 foot Maxum bowslider with a 15 pitch and get 41 - 47 depending upon load and humidity. I have run this combo for the last five years exclusively in fresh water and have had absolutely zero issues. Impeller every year, pump housing and thermostat "as needed". Keep it a little rich (wife hates smell) and get this........I have yet to need to change my Nippondenso plugs that I installed five years ago!!!!
These motors were never designed to be "Top Gun", but with care and maintenance, they perform very well.
