Got a 1997 Huskie 38 inch cut Rider, it's made by MTD, and the other day while mowing the rear drive belt came off. It is the original one and was pretty wore and cracked so went and bought a new one, same number, and now as soon as you start to take off the belt just comes right off. Has anybody ever had this trouble. I did notice that the pulley that hooks the front and rear drive belts up, which is a slider pulley, was sticking a little and oiled it where it was sliding real easy. Hope someone can help before I have to have the neighbor come over with the bushhog.

Re: Keep throwing belt

Hmmmm.

Most likely is that there is a belt tensioner spring or adjustable pulley that needs to be replaced or adjusted.

Second most likely is that the pulleys are not in alignment.

Third is that the belt is the wrong length.

Fourth is that the belt track is incorrect.

Good luck. :)
