My 1998 Mercury 200-2 stroke Outboard when it starts the alarm keeps beeping. Looked in a manual, but it doesn't say anything about a constant beep(in the codes). I have been told that it could be the oil sensor in the tank(tank is full). Any ideas?

:welcome: to iboats

Two of the most common warning beeps is either overheat or low oil level. Your engine should be oil injected and so there is a tank which contains injection oil, what is the current level?

oscillating or solid beep? normal runnin' conditions solid is overheat,.oscillating is oiler relatedl or (if efi) water in fuel.... if either of these sound with just tha key on ya got a problem......

with key on only
solid beep wil be either a grounded/bad over heat sensor or bad oiler module (usually tha culprit).. any signal going thru tha module will oscillate unless module is bad.. that's is only function..
oscillating beep usually is low oil in motor tank or bad low oil sensor in motor tank...possible but not likely tha module...
