keeps dieing in gear!

the engine sounds nice in neutral but when i put it in gear it runs for about 3 seconds and dies out.the year is 1995 or 1996 the serial number is 0d976237 its a 3.3 mercury.also what hould the idol be set on?

Hi Chrisc15<br />Try setting your air fuel mix on the sid of carb,screw in till it revs higher then screw back till it starts to run rough then go back between the two points.
