my key is sticking and making motor turn over while off and when trying to crank. it turns over while i try to crank and sometime stick when i turn it off. in order to get it to stop i have to turn key a time or two and when back in off position it stops. what is causing all of my troubles. just started this after on the lake yesterday, and alot of trying to get mariner 90hp inline to crank and run.

It did not go bad in 30 minutes, your motor is a 1979, it took 30 years. Replace the switch.

Re: key sticking

some times you go in to a s*it patch and come out smelling like roses. well my problem had nothing to do with key switch, it wasthe starter solinode was stuck closed from low voltage cranking. so that problem is fixed, now to the next one....
